Make a Dexterity roll

ELEK TULL

7:37 pm
don’t remember how to roll dice on this

GAMEMASTER

7:38 pm
Go to Obsidian Portal, click on the dice in the upper right screen

GAMEMASTER

7:39 pm
With a sickening jolt your ship unexpectedly drops out of Hyperspace. Walking through the corridors you are caught off-guard and thrown into a bulkhead. Roll Strength.

ELEK TULL

6

GAMEMASTER

7:40 pm
Fortunately it’s just a glancing blow, hurting little more than your pride.

ELEK TULL

7:41 pm
Elek Calls out “You forget how to fly again, Klawflawn?”

GAMEMASTER

7:41 pm
A deep growling voice comes over the comm system: “Master Tull! Please come to the bridge!”

ELEK TULL

7:42 pm
Elek joggs up to the bridge “What’s up? Why did we come out of Hyperspace?”

GAMEMASTER

Roll Perception

ELEK TULL

GAMEMASTER

7:43 pm
As you open the bridge doors you run right into a giant wall of fur. No matter how big the cockpit is, watching Klawflawn try to fly is like watching a bantha on a solocycle.

GAMEMASTER

7:44 pm
At the top of the wall you see a pair of eyes glance back towards your direction.
“Master, the hyperdrive cutout kicked in automatically there must be something here.”

ELEK TULL

7:46 pm
Maybe you should check the sensors and see what it is?

GAMEMASTER

7:47 pm
“Yes Master”. (Rolls a 16 on sensors). “It appears there’s another ship a dozen kilometers away. Looks like a Star Galleon.”

ELEK TULL

7:48 pm
16 knowledge – a what?
erk/ I mean 13

GAMEMASTER

7:49 pm
An Imperial Star Galleon, a heavily-armed freighter popularly used by the Empire.

ELEK TULL

7:51 pm
Elek sighs “Damn imperials. Always in the way. Try and go around it.”

GAMEMASTER

7:52 pm
“Master Tull, I’m receiving an emergency flash message over the comm system.” One of Klawflawn’s large beefy hands moves over and flicks a switch on a side panel.
“— repeat, to anyone who receives this, this is the Captivity, requesting immediate assistance. We’ve suffered a power failure and are running on auxiliary backups.”

GAMEMASTER

7:54 pm
“This is the Captivity, can you read us?”
“We are -” the communication suddenly ends.

ELEK TULL

7:55 pm
“Ok, I’ll bite” Elek hits reply “This is

ELEK TULL

of the Aqualian freighter Patriot. What is the problem”

GAMEMASTER

7:56 pm
You wait expectantly for a reply which does not come.

ELEK TULL

7:56 pm
mechanical (for sensors) 2d6=6. Can I tell if they have power?

GAMEMASTER

7:57 pm
Add one more D for the actual sensors.

ELEK TULL

7:57 pm
bah! +1
Klawflawn, bring us in closer

GAMEMASTER

7:58 pm
“Yes Master Tull,” Klawflawn growls as he pilots your ship closer.

GAMEMASTER

7:59 pm
As you examine the sensors, the ship’s main drive appears to be offline but you do detect some type of power on the ship.
Roll Perception

ELEK TULL

8:00 pm
11

GAMEMASTER

8:00 pm
You can see some lights on the ship, but other parts of it remain dark. Near the bridge, you see what looks like an airlock.

ELEK TULL

8:00 pm
[wow, consistenly below average rolls. I must still be waking up]

ELEK TULL

8:01 pm
Go ahead and dock us, Klaw. Though I know I’ll regret this

GAMEMASTER

8:02 pm
Klawflawn moves your ship alongside the Star Galleon. You hear a muffled clanging sound as the two airlocks connect.

ELEK TULL

8:02 pm
law enforcement 18 – is there a reward for this sort of rescue operation?

GAMEMASTER

8:03 pm
As a rule of thumb, yes. A sizeable reward.

GAMEMASTER

8:03 pm
[quick bathroom break]

ELEK TULL

8:04 pm
Oh, and is the Captivity broadcasting imperial identification?

GAMEMASTER

8:04 pm
[back]

ELEK TULL

8:04 pm
“Ok Klaw, grab you medkit. Lets see what the problem is”

GAMEMASTER

8:05 pm
According to your earlier sensors roll, it is.

GAMEMASTER

8:05 pm
Klawflawn puts the engines on standby and somehow squeezes out of his chair.
You both head to the airlock connecting the ship. Klawflawn checks the pressure seals and confirms their is oxygen.

ELEK TULL

8:07 pm
While he does I work on overriding the airlock so we can get in

GAMEMASTER

8:08 pm
Make a security roll.

ELEK TULL

8:08 pm
16

GAMEMASTER

8:08 pm
You easily disable the lock, and with a woosh the airlock opens onto the other ship.

ELEK TULL

8:09 pm
Head to the bridge

GAMEMASTER

8:10 pm
Fortunately the airlock is quite close to it. As you enter the ship you see the overhead lights flickering on and off repeatedly. The emergency lights are still on, bathing the interior in a hue of red.
In the distance you hear some type of klaxon going off.
Make a Perception roll.

ELEK TULL

8:11 pm
15

GAMEMASTER

8:12 pm
As you round one of the corners you glimpse a sudden movement coming towards you.

ELEK TULL

8:12 pm
Step behind Klaw

GAMEMASTER

8:14 pm
OK, you see four figures emerge from the shadows. They look roughly humanoid and are dressed in orange outfits. One of them sneers and says, “That’s far enough, y—” The rest is drowned out by a mighty roar as Klawnflawn charges into them.

ELEK TULL

8:15 pm
do I want/need to stop him? Are those imperial outfits?

GAMEMASTER

8:16 pm
Make a knowledge roll.

ELEK TULL

8:16 pm
…6
:(

GAMEMASTER

8:16 pm
While you are thinking Klawnflawn grabs the nearest individual and brawls with him.

ELEK TULL

8:17 pm
If I’m not sure I’ll tell him to stop
Klaw, wait!

GAMEMASTER

8:18 pm
Too late, the individual quickly slides to the side and grabs one of Klawnflawn’s outstretched arms. Pivoting quickly, he drops his weight and Klawnflawn goes tumbling onto the deck. The other three all pile on.
(Klawnfawn rolled an 11 for brawling vs. his opponent’s 20)

ELEK TULL

8:19 pm
I draw my blaster “Everyone stop!”

GAMEMASTER

8:20 pm
You’re going to have to do better than that. There’s a brawl in progress.

ELEK TULL

8:20 pm
Even with a 6 I’m guessing I could at least tell if they have imperial uniforms

GAMEMASTER

8:21 pm
You have concluded that they are not Imperial uniforms. They look tattered and stained actually.

ELEK TULL

8:21 pm
Like prisoners (I do have law enforcement)
?

GAMEMASTER

8:22 pm
Well, that would add +1 to your roll of 7, which still doesn’t tell you exactly who they are, although you’re fairly confident they’re not Imperials.

GAMEMASTER

8:23 pm
Make another perception roll.

ELEK TULL

8:23 pm
Fair enough. In any case, warning shot and 8 on intimidate. Also I’m making sure I’m not in arms reach of any of them
13

GAMEMASTER

8:24 pm
There’s someone behind you. You hear what sounds like a blaster shot.

ELEK TULL

8:25 pm
Well, since I heard it and didn’t feel it, I’m guessing they didn’t hit me. Is the person behind me dressed the same?

GAMEMASTER

8:26 pm
Yes, although they did hit you. Roll for strength.

ELEK TULL

8:26 pm
lol. So much for perception…
4

GAMEMASTER

8:27 pm
You are perceiving them hitting you.

ELEK TULL

8:27 pm
um… you need to roll for that?!

ELEK TULL

8:27 pm
lol. anyway, I guess my 4 means it hurts

GAMEMASTER

8:27 pm
You didn’t Dodge, so it was a difficulty of easy, which they passed.

ELEK TULL

8:28 pm
Could I have dodged?

GAMEMASTER

8:28 pm
Yes, but it’s too late for that now. You see a bright blue light and feel your arms and legs collapsing from underneath you.

ELEK TULL

8:28 pm
ok. For future reference though. When would I have dodged?
Seems like after they shot me woudl be too late

GAMEMASTER

8:29 pm
The last thing you see is the deck rushing up to meet you before everything goes black.

GAMEMASTER

8:29 pm
[As an aside, you both rolled identical perceptions, although yours was three higher. I decided you both would act simultaneously. He chose to shoot. You chose to try and figure out what he was wearing.]

ELEK TULL

8:30 pm
You said “I hear a shot”
I assumed that meant it already happend, not that I could dodge.
You didn’t say I hear someone coming up to me

GAMEMASTER

8:31 pm
You didn’t hear him until he shot.
You had about a second to react.

ELEK TULL

8:31 pm
ok. but I don’t see how I can dodge once I’ve already been shot.

GAMEMASTER

8:32 pm
You should have declared a Dodge, then he would have been rolling against that instead of the base difficulty.

ELEK TULL

8:32 pm
You said “I hear a shot”
That sounds too late to declare a dodge. i even replied with “he couldn’t have been shooting at me since I heard it and didn’t feel it”

GAMEMASTER

8:32 pm
Well he was.

ELEK TULL

8:32 pm
But lets move on. I’m assuming I’m not dead.

GAMEMASTER

8:33 pm
Of course not. It was set to stun.
Which is also why you had that split-second. A blaster you wouldn’t have heard it, but stun weapons take a second to expand before they hit their targets.
Make a Strength roll

ELEK TULL

8:34 pm
Fine. whatever. If I knew that I would have dodged. But lets move on
6

GAMEMASTER

8:35 pm
After an unknown period of time, you come to. You still feel like you got run over by a landspeeder, but you can make out a big white light that is slowly turning into more identifiable shapes.
[You’re at -1D until further notice from the stun effects]

ELEK TULL

Roll Perception

ELEK TULL

8:36 pm
9

GAMEMASTER

8:37 pm
You’re in a big open room, although one wall is sheer black. You make out a large number of the orange people and a much smaller number of other people dressed in black and in green. You also feel some hot breath behind you.

ELEK TULL

8:38 pm
dodge

GAMEMASTER

8:38 pm
Roll for it, -1D

ELEK TULL

8:38 pm
10

GAMEMASTER

8:39 pm
You begin to quickly move out of the way, but are severely encumbered by the arm and leg restraints you didn’t realize you were wearing. Although you panic as you hit the floor, you see that it is just Klawflawn.
He appears to be similarly restrained.

GAMEMASTER

8:40 pm
“Awake at last?” a voice says quietly from off to the side.

ELEK TULL

8:41 pm
How long till I get back my -1

GAMEMASTER

8:41 pm
About another five minutes of real time.

ELEK TULL

8:42 pm
“I knew I was going to regret this”

GAMEMASTER

8:42 pm
“Hey, I’m talking to you.”

GAMEMASTER

8:43 pm
Klawflawn growls menacingly at the speaker.

ELEK TULL

8:44 pm
How many people are armed with blasters?

GAMEMASTER

8:44 pm
A fair number. It seems like there are at least a few dozen orange people, about half of them armed.

ELEK TULL

8:45 pm
sigh Turn to the speaker “So, what the hell is this?”

GAMEMASTER

8:45 pm
[You can re-add the 1D now]
In the bright light you can see what appears to be an Imperial officer, similarly tied up. He scowls and begins to open his mouth.
“I’ll tell you what this is,” a booming voice says.

GAMEMASTER

8:47 pm
A man with an unkempt grey beard wanders into your field of view. “This is the liberation of an Imperial prison ship!”

ELEK TULL

8:48 pm
Elek laughs “I knew it. Great. So, what? You damaged your ship in the jail break?”

GAMEMASTER

8:49 pm
“A necessary inconvenience I’m afraid” the bearded man says. “I doubt poor Lieutenant Zarus here would have just let us take over if the power hadn’t suddenly gone out.”

ELEK TULL

8:50 pm
….and none of the prisoners know how to do repairs.

GAMEMASTER

8:51 pm
“Oh we don’t, but the crew fortunately does. My men have them working on getting full power restored as we speak. You see, there’s nothing heroic dying in the middle of space, and I’ve promised to leave them on the first habitable world we come to.”
“Speaking of which, what should I do with you?”
[There’s something about the man that looks familiar]

ELEK TULL

8:52 pm
should I roll something?

GAMEMASTER

8:52 pm
Perception works.

ELEK TULL

8:52 pm
12

GAMEMASTER

8:53 pm
Oh no…

ELEK TULL

8:54 pm

GAMEMASTER

8:54 pm
It’s Jowen H’wan.
Roll Knowledge

ELEK TULL

8:56 pm
7

GAMEMASTER

8:56 pm
All you know about him is that he’s a wanted terrorist.

ELEK TULL

8:57 pm
wanted by the imperials, I assume

GAMEMASTER

8:57 pm
And the Aquileans.

ELEK TULL

8:57 pm
oh.

GAMEMASTER

8:57 pm
“Well, what should I do with you?”

ELEK TULL

8:58 pm
Elek shrugs “That depends. Why did you call me over?”

GAMEMASTER

8:59 pm
He snorts. “We didn’t. The crew thought the ship had suffered a catastrophic power failure. By the time we took the bridge they’d already sent out a general distress call.”

ELEK TULL

8:59 pm
Elek shakes his head and glares at the imperials “So it’s their fault I’m here.”

GAMEMASTER

8:59 pm
You feel the deck start to vibrate and hum beneath you.

ELEK TULL

9:00 pm
"Well then I guess you should let me get back on my ship and away before you get going

GAMEMASTER

9:00 pm
H’wan smiles. “It looks like power has been restored. And just why should I let you go?”

ELEK TULL

9:01 pm
“Because a) I’m not an imperial b) I had nothing to do with taking you and c) you’re about to hyper drive off to somewhere else anyway.”
“Why /wouldn’t/ you let me go?”

GAMEMASTER

9:02 pm
He gestures to Klawflawn. “He’s yours, isn’t he?”

ELEK TULL

9:02 pm
yeah

GAMEMASTER

9:03 pm
“Amazing how many people benefit daily from the evils of the Empire, yet consider themselves above it. Slavery is the worst. Your Kentra will certainly be free to go, but you I’m not so sure about.”

ELEK TULL

9:04 pm
Fair enough. Tell you what. We’ll leave my fate it Klawflawn’s hands.
If he thinks I should leave with him, then I do. If not… not

GAMEMASTER

9:05 pm
H’wan smiles: “An interesting proposition. I might actually take you up —”
All of a sudden one of his men calls out, “Sir! We have another incoming ship. Extremely large, coming right for us!”

ELEK TULL

9:06 pm
is there a key or something I could palm while he’s distracted?

GAMEMASTER

9:08 pm
You’re shackled behind your back, and one of your leg restrains is tied to Klawnfawn’s.

ELEK TULL

9:08 pm
ok. that would be a no

GAMEMASTER

9:08 pm
“Star Destroyer!” the prisoner crewman shouts.
“No!” H’wan yells. “Not now! Emergency jump to lightspeed!”
“But sir! We haven’t had time to plot a course!”

ELEK TULL

9:10 pm
Really? You’re going to try to race a star destroyer and maybe run your ship into a star?

ELEK TULL

9:10 pm
Let me talk to them. At least long enough to get time to plot a decent course
if you land in a planet, I die. And I’m not intersted in dying

GAMEMASTER

9:11 pm
He turns to you as if to say something, but is cut off by a comm transmission. “This is the Star Destroyer Bellerophon to Imperial Star Galleon Captivity.”
“Lightspeed now!” H’wan shouts, pushing aside his crewman and grabbing the lever.

GAMEMASTER

9:13 pm
You feel yourself being pushed back in Klawflawn as the stars suddenly flicker and then stream into lines.

ELEK TULL

9:14 pm
so, what happens to myship?

GAMEMASTER

9:15 pm
[I actually thought about that. Since there’s no resistance in space, it should be able to make the jump with you.]

ELEK TULL

9:15 pm
cool

GAMEMASTER

9:16 pm
Yes, but unfortunately you were right about a snap jump to lightspeed. With a violent crash the ship comes wrenching out of hyperpsace just seconds later.
Roll Dexterity.

ELEK TULL

9:16 pm
14
apparently I was ready for it

GAMEMASTER

9:16 pm
We’ll see … when we continue our adventure another time.
